Default Bit of advice

Okay so I got GW a month ago, and I finally got to level 20 today. Woot go me etc.

Now I'm starting to take it more tactically and stuff, and I've been looking into builds and high level buying and selling etc, and need a bit of advice.

My profession is R/Mo, and I was wondering what the best build is? Only one I saw was the Barrage one, is that best?

And where is best place to farm with the chosen build, and what skills / weapons / attributes should I use based on my profession?

Any advice really is appreciated, thanks a lot

I'd say the ice imps outside the ice caves of sorrows.

Or just go and take a look at my thread (spam spam ), and look for one yourself

Another great way to farm is trapping. Drop lots of traps, lure the enemy over in a group, BOOM! apply posion and posion any survivors and finish them off as you see fit.

Default desert tour

not farming, but a decent way to get money for a ranger is doing desert tours (i usually do mine for 2k (400g for first 4 stops, next two 200g, last free), or 2.4k(400g/stop, last free)). Depending on what time it is you can make quite a bit of money this way. Around 10-12k per run (assuming you don't get scammers). And after you get enough practice you can end up doing a tour in less than a half an hour, best i've ever clocked at was 27 minutes, everyone in group payed up front and that saves some time. Only downside to running (besides scammers) is that if the server isn't busy then it can end up taking up to an hour for the whole run due time spent getting people to run.

quick build (off the top of my head since im at school) for a r/mo

ws 16 (1+3)
expertise 9 (+1)
healing prayers 8
(if i remember correctly, if not make sure healing prayers is at 8 and ws is maxed out, rest in expertise)

storm chaser (should last 21 seconds?)
dodge (should last 9 seconds?)
escape/melandru's resiliance (resiliance just in case targeted by virulance)
whirling defense (use when pulling out from teleporters)
troll ungeant (+9 with ws 16? use when you can spare the casting time)
holy breeze (+6 with healing prayers at 8, use when not enough casting time)
holy viel (helps delay hexes)
mending (+3 with healing prayers at 8)

good luck

As for my standard build, this is what I use:

Barrage (Elite)
Distracting Shot
Whirling Defence
Heal Area
Healing Breeze
Vigorous Spirit
Live Vicariously
Restore Life

My bows:

Gorgash's Recurve Bow (Zealous Bow)
Elswyth's Recurve Bow (Vampiric Bow)
Tornak's Recurve Bow (+20% Enchantment)

All these bows have +30 Health increase--a Perfect Fortitude Mod.

The idea is to get about +27 Health per arrow. 27 x 6 = 162 health on a full Barrage attack. You can subsitute Whirling Defences or Distracting shot for a Dual Shot or what not. If you're low on enemies, you can use Heal Area + Healing Breeze.

Attributes:

Healing Spells +10
Expertise +8
Marksmanship +16

This is with runes and what not. A Minor Expertise rune and a Superior Marksmanship Rune + Mask.

Druid's Armor is the best choice for this build, in my opinion.

If you're in a enchantment breaker heavy area, you can sub in Holy Veil for Whirling Defences.

with max ws and 9 expertise your giving yourself 21 seconds from storm chaser and 9 seconds from dodge, 100% boost, no 1 second downtime. this also frees up your elite as you wish, i personally love to keep melandrus resiliance in my skillbar as backup. you may also bring word of healing for a quick +50 (+60 additional if under 50% at 8 healing prayers) or healing hands for +21 hp whenever you take damage instead of melandru's resiliance (or escape). imo, using stormchaser rather than escape to free up your elite is worth it, running through the desert doesn't pose a lot of attacking that can be deadly, the only thing you would want to watch out for is make sure you have dodge on as you go through the portal going to dunes of despair from hero's audience, sometimes enchanted bow spawn close and will cripple you, if you are unlucky enough to get hit by this with dodge on you just activate whirling defense, cast healing breeze and troll and you can easily limp along to dunes with no fear. but if you like to show off that you have escape, by all means do so, you just wont be seeing me using it

i honestly don't know, however, i looked it up on guild wiki and the WoH says target ally, not target other ally, therefore by definition, (in theory) it should work. I haven't gotten around to capping it yet but it's on my to-do list.

IDS Run - http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=98235
bring at least 50g with you incase don't get any gold dropping, if your region has favor you can donate 50g in the cave for +3 hp regen and some extra hp i think, and if you donate 100g you'll get -2% from your dp or +2% to your morale. this is not necessary but can work wonders. if you don't know how to donate, just walk up to the statue and /kneel before it, an avatar for that god should appear, talk to them and click on what you want to do. this thread reccomends going north as far as you can, but if you have difficulties this way you may want to try and approach the cave from a more southern way, this can be difficult with a bad spawn of giants blocking the narrow pathway, but can be easier imo. i usually go the southern way anyways due to a guildie giving me supplies he gets from farming for collectors and i keep half the goods.

was going to post some more but hyro's thread does a pretty good job.
